I am getting the following mesage "Win 16 Subsystem was unable to enter
protected mode. DOSX.exe must be in your autoexec.nt and in your path".The
DOSX.EXE file is in the Windows\system32 folder and also inlcuded in the path
and the autoexec.nt file. But I still get the above error message when
running running some of my older applications. Do I need to recreate a new
AUTOEXEC.NT file?? Any help would be apprecaiated, I am having a terrible
time with this!

Thanks,
kwh

I looked at the Microsoft Article you suggested, but this didn't help. These
old applications were working fine(Adobe Page Maker 5.0) until the updates
from Microsoft were installed. I have created a new config.nt and autoexec.nt
files, thinking the old ones were corrupt. I am at a loss of what to do?

Try replacing %systemroot%\command.com, autoexec.nt, and config.nt with
versions expanded from the installation cd. (Use a command window to rename
them with "old" at the end of the extension first).

re-boot the computer and try your old apps again.

In a command window change the drive and folder to the location of your
installation files, for example, type the following to change to the i386
folder on your CD, assuming the CD is on drive D:

d:
cd i386

then type the following to expand the compressed files in to your system32
folder:

expand command.co_ %systemroot%\system32\command.com
expand autoexec.nt_ %systemroot%\system32\autoexec.nt
expand config.nt_ %systemroot%\system32\config.nt
