a user copied filed from a network drive to another network drive

it may be too long of the path and file name.

now some files lost file owner

admin cannot open the file, even no property tap when left click the mouse

i tried to reset security settings of the above folder of those file and
force the settings downward

but no use.

any advice. Thanks.

It is unclear if you have an issue with permissions, ownership of
excessively long path+file names. If the path+file name is excessive, rename
the path or the file. If you have permission problems, seize ownership of
the file or folder. If unsure how to do this, click Start / Help, then look
for help on "ownership".

now i can do nothing with those files.

i wonder it is the filename & path problem because only those longest file
name files have those problem

i cannot click the property tap of the files so i cannot reset the file
owner

any command to reset the file rights/ownership? Thanks.

Start by shortening your path so that you can access even the files with the
longest file names.

You also need to be clear about which mouse button you press. Below you
wrote "when i left click the file". Did you perhaps mean "when I right-click
the file name"?
