Hi,

I've just bought the new Vista Business on a Dell PC.
I was downloading a movie trailer and cancelled it accidentally.

Now I have a 44kb *.MOV file sitting on my desktop, that cannot be
deleted/renamed/moved.

It has no Owners. When I try to give ownership to the Administrators group
or my own admin account, it just says "Access Denied". (I only have one
account)

I tried deleting it within IE (The program that created it) by browsing to
the file and deleting it. (Failed)

I tried using "cmd" -> "del" command. (Failed)

I tried SHIFT + DELETE -> the file disappears, but when I refresh, it
appears again.

I tried ending the Explorer process and deleting the file via task
manager(Fail).

Anyone has an idea how I can delete this file....??

Hi, Tyler.

I'm no expert on permissions and such, but...
I tried using "CMD" -> "del" command. (Failed)
Did you "Run as administrator" when you started cmd.exe?

Yes, I know you are AN administrator, but sometimes Vista has to be
convinced that you are THE administrator. :^{

Hi!, Thanks for the reply.

I tried the runas /user:machine_name\administrator cmd
and logged on as administrator. But it still doesnt help.

I think something is wrong with that file.

Is there any system tools in Windows I can use to repair that file and then
delete it?

It seems to be corrupted... =x

I faced the same problem, I studied it for a long time and how to use
all these commands, and then I simply bought Long Path Tool at the address LongPathTool DOT com and
cleaned all unnecessary files.
